7.7.14 We started the countertops process on May 28th. Today the granite countertops arrived and were installed.
Yesterday as I cleared stuff off the countertops I asked my husband if we had to disconnect the old sink or take out the old countertops. He didn’t know so I read the contract and sure enough, we were responsible for all of that because I was too cheap to buy the “haul away” labor thing.
So Dan figured out how to dismantle everything and at one point he had to saw away part of the cupboard to get the counter out.
I spent hours cleaning and organizing all the stuff that was jammed on the counter tops and in the cupboards.
I couldn’t wait to get home from work to put everything away and make it all look neat and organized. Unfotunately, the faucet was not installed as part of the deal so I started doing that and immediately called for Dan’s help and discovered we were in need of several items necessary to install the sink. Like plumber’s putty, a drain and the pipe for under the sink. Dang!!
So at 7 pm we jumped in the car and drove one hour to Home Depot to get the stuff. When we got home I still wanted to install the sink and Dan basically told me to pound sand. So instead of a beautiful new kitchen, I have a little longer to deal with a little clutter and a non-functioning kitchen sink. Could be a whole lot worse.
